With ink or oil paint, I depict the world as I observe it both externally and internally—the good and the bad, fantasy and reality, and everything in between. I aim to portray chaos, complexity, overwhelm, stagnation, sorrow, loneliness, longing, and decay in a way that reminds both myself and others that order, simplicity, tranquility, progress, joy, community, contentment, and growth cannot exist without their opposites. Beauty and perfection depend on the ugly and flawed, allowing us to find hope even when everything seems hopeless.
