Samling: Lara Long
A long-standing fascination with Indigenous peoples and nature. At 20, I lived with three generations of Maya women in a mountain village in Guatemala. It was my first time living away from home. The stay lasted six months but shaped me for a lifetime. I have also lived in Brazil, Greece, an old restored building in Svalbard connected to mining, and Trondheim. But I have spent the most time in Oslo.
I am a nature child who has been stuck in the city and therefore always seeks to find beauty in the "ugly." I am drawn to colors that speak to my soul. I have an affinity for contrasts and mix the naive with the complex, the bare with the spiritual, the traumatic with the platonic. Social engagement and activism are central to my work.
Love trumps hate.
