Stojan Minev was born on March 1, 1968, in Bulgaria. He began private lessons at the age of 12 with the prominent art educator Boris Popov, who was once the teacher of the famous Bulgarian-American wrapping artist Christo (Hristo Yavachev). Later, he moved to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, for private lessons with various art educators.
From 1989 to 1994, he pursued an academic education, earning a master's degree in painting. In 1989, he participated in an exchange program at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden - Academy of Fine Art Dresden.
As a student in the early 1990s, Stojan was actively involved in Bulgaria's political life as a founder of "The Independent Student League" and participated in both occupation strikes at VTU State University. During the first strike, he served as an artist and designer for the newspaper "Student Strike," and in the second, he was a strike leader at the Faculty of Arts.
In Bulgaria, he had five solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. In 2003, he permanently moved to Norway.
In 2005, he and other young artists in Drammen established the art group STAG!, based at the "Arena" Art Center in Vestfossen (now merged with the Art Laboratory), where they ran their own gallery, StudioSTAG!.
From 2007 to 2009, Stojan was fully sponsored by JUL Holding A/S. Some of the works he created during this period are part of the company's contemporary art collection.
In 2009, Stojan moved his studio to the "Arena" Art Center, where he worked and exhibited with Norwegian and international contemporary artists and curators.
In 2012, he designed and built his new studio in Drammen.
Stojan has a broad artistic expression. He creates paintings, bronze sculptures, ceramic sculptures, prints, and drawings.
