Collection: Pink Boneyard
Pink Boneyard, also known as Hege Therese Lien Skundberg (b. 1987), is a visual artist from Ringerike. She is the artist behind the hard-edge pink skeleton paintings and is a versatile creator who began experimenting with bold colors and daring lines early on.
The signature pink skeleton motif emerged from her interest in the macabre and a desire to inject humor and playfulness into darker themes concerning the human experience. The result is work that blends the surreal with the familiar, creating a unique visual language that both delights and disturbs.
"In my work, I explore the complex interplay between life and death through a pink skeleton character, symbolizing mortality and transience. My art, spanning various media such as street art, painting, sculpture, textile art, and hard-edge painting, serves as an in-depth exploration of human anatomy, psychology, and the overarching human experience. Light pink, carefully chosen for its subtle shades, expresses a delicate balance between vulnerability and vitality. This color becomes a powerful symbol of our fragile existence, where even in our most vulnerable state, there is a glimpse of beauty and strength.
My artworks attempt to convey that even when we face death, our fragile side possesses its own kind of beauty and strength. It's as if my light pink tries to communicate that in our most vulnerable moments, there exists a unique energy and liveliness. There is a hint of beauty even in vulnerability, and I like to think my works capture that moment of light, even in the shadows of mortality."
